A Smarter Approach to Helmet Safety
Saturn Sports was founded at the University of Dayton by Hank Veeneman and Brayden Shepard, lifelong athletes who have seen firsthand the toll head injuries can take. They uncovered one of football’s most overlooked safety issues: many players fail to fully tighten their helmets, putting them at greater risk of injury. In a national survey of nearly 500 coaches, 28% of players were reported to play with untightened chinstraps.The Saturn Strap is being created to solve this problem — giving coaches, parents, and players clear, instant feedback when a helmet is fully secure.
